Course Description
Join Dr. Yves Samoy for a practical course on the TPLO procedure, including the new Rita Leibinger spacer for combined patella luxation surgery, alongside an overview of the CBLO technique.

This course is aimed at vets who are looking to learn how to carry out the TPLO procedure for cruciate rupture, with the unique option to combine patella luxation treatment. The course will also include an overview of the CBLO procedure. It is a practical hands-on course which will include presentation theory, hands on saw bone exercises and wet lab practice. The course will look at stifle anatomy and how to diagnose cruciate damage along with approach to the stifle joint. The course will cover pre operative planning, plate selection and measuring. Complications and solutions will be looked at and discussed throughout the course, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get hands on with the kit.

Yves Samoy  (DVM, PhD, ECVSMR)
Yves Samoy graduated in 2003 cum laude at Ghent University, Belgium. After graduation, he continued to work at Ghent University at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Morphology, Medical Imaging, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy and Nutrition to improve his orthopedic skills.From 2006 to June 2012 he was a full time assistant in the Orthopedic department. During this period, he laid the basis of the physiotherapy and rehabilitation unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. B. Van Ryssen he finished his PhD on Elbow incongruity in the dog in 2011. Since July 2012 he is Doctoral Assistant in the Orthopedic department and is involved in all kinds of orthopedic surgery including arthroscopy. He is also the developing surgeon behind the TTA Rapid technique. Since 2015 he is CCRP certified by Ghent University and in charge of the Rehabilitation & Physiotherapy Unit. In 2019 he became a diplomate of the European college of veterinary sports medicine and rehabilitation.

Yves Samoy is author or co-author of several orthopaedic publications in international journals.
