Course Description
Spanning over two days, this intensive course on Fracture Treatment in Cats and Dogs with the LeiLOX System is designed for veterinarians seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in fracture treatment . Through a combination of theoretical lectures and practical applications, participants will delve into the fundamentals of osteosynthesis, bone healing mechanisms, and advancements in fracture management. Hands-on Wet Lab sessions provide a dynamic learning environment where participants will gain proficiency in utilizing the LeiLOX System, including the 2.0-3.5 mm Locking System and the 1.5/2.0 mm (Titanium) Micro Locking System, across diverse fracture scenarios. From mastering stability concepts to navigating plate systems and achieving precise screw placement, participants emerge equipped with the expertise to tackle complex fractures with confidence.

Throughout the course, participants will:

  • Understand the principles underlying fracture fixation and its significance in promoting optimal bone healing.
  • Explore bone healing mechanisms and discuss factors influencing fracture consolidation.
  • Examine the evolution of osteosynthesis techniques and their impact on fracture management.
  • Learn the application of pins, wires, and external fixation devices.
  • Practice the handling of power tools, cerclage techniques, tension band application, and insertion of intramedullary pins in various long bones.
  • Explore the concepts of stability and biologic fixation in fracture management.
  • Get a clear overview of plate systems and their application techniques, including dynamic compression plates (DCP) and locking systems.
  • Get to know the LeiLOX Systems, including the 2.0-3.5 mm and 1.5/2.0 mm (Titanium) Micro Locking Systems.
  • Practice precise drilling and placement of screws and manage basic fractures using plate systems.

Note: Participants will have the opportunity to continue their education with an advanced intensive course in November, further solidifying their expertise in fracture management.

About LeiLOX Locking Systems
The LeiLOX Locking Systems are 100% Made in Germany. These are specifically designed for dogs and cats and are suitable for a variety of applications: fractures of long bones, pelvic fractures, periarticular fractures, rod-plate constructs, Oral Maxillofacial, corrective osteotomies, and more can be treated with a variety of plates and screws from this system.

The LeiLOX 1.5/2.0 Micro Locking System was specifically developed for very small dogs and cats. The implants are made of the highest quality titanium, offering several advantages: Titanium provides excellent biocompatibility, minimal temperature sensitivity, low weight combined with high strength and rigidity.

The LeiLOX 2.0-3.5 Stainless Steel Locking System is made of the highest quality surgical implant steel. Stainless Steel implants are designed to withstand high loads and forces, which is particularly necessary for large and giant breed patients. In addition, the multi-axial locking system allows for greater flexibility in fixation.
