Case Overview
Issi is a 9 month old Miniature Spitz weighing 1.47 kg who suffered a traumatic fall down the stairs at home on 10 January 2026. She was treated at Przychodnia Weterynaryjna Jaroslaw Garbowski in Olesnica, Poland, where surgical stabilization of her forearm fracture was planned and performed using the LeiLOX Nano 1.0 system.

The Injury
Radiographs confirmed a fracture of both bones of the left forearm. The images showed a short oblique fracture of the distal third of the left radius and ulna shaft, with displacement and shortening of the bone fragments. The skin remained intact. Apart from the fracture, no additional injuries were detected that could have influenced the anesthetic protocol. Issi was stabilized with a cast and scheduled for osteosynthesis.

The Surgical Solution
During surgery, the radius was stabilized using a LeiLOX Nano 1.0 Titanium locking plate with six locking screws. Given Issi’s very small size and low body weight, achieving precise, stable fixation was critical, and the implant system provided the required support. A stabilizing cast was applied for the first three days postoperatively and then continued for another seven days following the follow up visit. After a total of 10 days, the cast was removed, and Issi’s activity was strictly restricted to protect the repair and support bone healing.

Recovery and Outcome
Follow up radiographs three weeks after surgery showed a positive healing course. Further radiographs are planned eight weeks postoperatively to assess consolidation and determine whether implant removal will be recommended. Four weeks after the procedure, Issi is walking comfortably without visible lameness, is fully weight bearing on the operated limb, and has returned to confident, natural movement.

Clinical Summary
This case shows that nano-sized titanium locking implants can provide reliable, precise fixation in very small breed dogs. The LeiLOX Nano 1.0 mm system achieved stable osteosynthesis in a delicate forearm fracture and supported early functional recovery. With 1.0 mm and 1.3 mm plate sizes, the LeiLOX Nano Titanium Fracture Locking System is among the most compact locking systems currently available.
