Diese Korrekturosteotomie ist ähnlich zur TPLO und CBLO, da sie die Position des Tibiaplateaus verändert. Die CCWO adressiert jedoch die Problematiken wie sekundäre (späte) Meniskusschäden, Überbelastung des Kaudalen Kreuzbandes, Reduktion der Achs- und Sekundärverschiebungen, sowie die Fehlstellung der Gelenksflächen.

Darüber hinaus ermöglicht der CORA-basierte Ansatz eine genauere und individuelle präoperative Planung, die auf der spezifischen Anatomie und Gewichtsverteilung des Patienten basiert. Zudem ist die Technik ideal für junge Patienten, da die Osteotomie außerhalb der Wachstumsfugen liegt. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, dass auch extreme Fälle mit steilen Tibiaplateaus korrigiert werden können. Zudem müssen bei dieser Methode lediglich gerade Osteotomien durchgeführt werden.
