Course Description

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to shelf arthroplasty using a personalized 3D-printed titanium implant (3DHIP) as a treatment for hip laxity in young dogs with hip dysplasia. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of patient selection criteria, surgical technique, and post-operative management to optimize outcomes.

Through theoretical instruction and hands-on training, attendees will learn:

  • The safety and feasibility of shelf arthroplasty using a personalized 3DHIP implant for stabilizing hip joints in young dogs.
  • Inclusion criteria critical for selecting suitable patients to ensure successful treatment outcomes.
  • The use of intraoperative fluoroscopy to confirm correct shelf alignment with the acetabular rim.
  • How 3DHIP offers a less invasive alternative to pelvic osteotomies like DPO/TPO.
  • The advantages of bilateral application in a single operative session.
  • The benefits of fast recovery, early return to pain-free locomotion, and minimal implant-related complications.

This course is essential for veterinary surgeons seeking to expand their expertise in minimally invasive orthopedic solutions for canine hip dysplasia, providing a practical and innovative approach to improving joint stability and long-term function.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for veterinary surgeons with an interest in orthopedic surgery, particularly those treating canine hip dysplasia. It is ideal for professionals who:

  • Perform or are looking to expand their expertise in hip stabilization procedures.
  • Want to incorporate shelf arthroplasty using personalized 3D-printed implants into their practice.
  • Are interested in minimally invasive alternatives to pelvic osteotomies like DPO/TPO.
  • Seek to improve patient outcomes with faster recovery and reduced implant-related complications.

Prior attendance at a 3D HIP Course is mandatory before applying this technique in clinical practice.
